To The Membership

Dear HRPC Members,

As our outdoor shooting season is winding down we are happy to announce that the past several months have been a success for the Hampden Rifle and Pistol Club match shooting programs.  We would like to thank everyone who has helped for match set up/tear down, match management and most importantly the many people who have attended our matches to compete in all of our various shooting sports.  Looking ahead, our intent moving into 2019 is to offer again the following disciplines for competitive sports at HRPC: NRA Bulls Eye, NRA High Power Rifle, USPSA Action Pistol and Steel Challenge.

It takes people to make these matches happen on all fronts from setting up, management and competitors.  If you have not competed in one of our matches please stop by and at least check one out.  If in the past you have participated thank you, please consider helping out at one of our matches in some form ranging from assisting in score keeping to a range safety officer.  All positions are appreciated.

Areas HRPC could use some help in as of this moment are:

NRA Bulls Eye:
Matt Ball HRPC member has been the match director for quite some time and is stepping down from this position.  If you have competed at Bulls Eye and would like to see this sport continue at our club, please notify one of the executive members so we can continue the Bulls Eye tradition at HRPC.  The season starts the first week of January and continues for 12 weeks.  MD duties consist of keeping a paper record at clubhouse of competitor scores and reporting the scores on a weekly basis.  Without a match director this sport may fall from the events being offered at HRPC.

NRA High Power:
High Power will have Thursday evening practices indoor through out the Winter.  If you have a 22lr conversion kit please feel free to stop in for practice.  As the weather and ground conditions improve in the Spring the High Power shooters will move practices outdoors and begin match shooting on a monthly basis.  Dave Dow has been MD for this sport for many years.  If you are interested in High Power shooting or willing to help out on match days please contact Dave or any of the Executive Committee members.  We will find you a place to fit in and help.  If all you can do is contribute as a competitor we do appreciate that as well.

USPSA Action Pistol and Steel Challenge:
Neil Merrill has been a dual MD for several years in both of these sports.  Action Pistol has regular monthly matches which are fast pace and exciting.  Neil is always looking for help setting up and running the AP matches.  If you are interested in designing or building stages for competitors your ideas are welcome.  Steel Challenge is a fairly new sport to HRPC.  We are currently looking for a match director to hold monthly matches at HRPC.  SC is an easy set up with only five steel targets per stage in preset locations.  If you have been by and participated in one of our Steel Challenge matches with Neil would you please consider stepping up to help run a match and possibly consider becoming a match director at HRPC for the next Summer season.

Again, we would like to thank all who have participated in any form at the HRPC club and truly hope you enjoyed your time with us.  If any of the above mentioned sports are of interest to you and you would like to help continue the tradition of shooting sports at HRPC, please notify one of our executive members and we will be sure to find you a place in our staff.  As always if there is a shooting sport that we are not currently offering and you want to start up and manage the program please let us know.  Good times to get in touch with executive members are Friday evenings.  Every Friday is an open range evening.  Another good time is to attend one of our executive meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00PM.  All club members are welcome at these meetings.  Thank you.

Very Truly Yours,

Bernie Philbrick, President
Hampden Rifle and Pistol Club
